17th Annual Take Kids Fishing Day

PRE – REGISTRATION SITES: Division of Parks & Recreation Department, Christian County Extension Office, Housing Authority of Hopkinsville, Jeffers’ Bend, Aaron McNeil Center, HWEA, Boys and Girls Club, Woodland Heights, HES and Hopkinsville YMCA.


3 hours of Family Fun for youngsters (Ages 3 to 15) to fish for prizes. Prizes will be awarded in the four age groups of (3-5), (6-8), (9-11) and (12-15) for the smallest, largest and most fish caught. Prizes will include 22 new bicycles, fishing equipment, outdoor chairs, etc. Children that are pre-registered and arrive before 10:00 AM on May 23rd will also have a chance to take home a free “Take Kids Fishing” T-shirt. Fishing equipment and bait are supplied on a limited basis. Children must be supervised and accompanied by an adult. Parents and other adults are urged to bring life jackets for ages 3-5. Lunch is provided for participants in the event. There is no fishing license required for this event.

Since 1999, over 60 businesses, groups and organizations have provided support for this event. Take Kids Fishing Day is held the 4th Saturday in May. Jeffers’ Bend offers hiking trails, a bird observatory, natural scenic beauty and several environmental events during the year for the whole family. There is something for everyone!
