Roux & The Willing is a trio headed by front man Kent Wells, a singer-songwriter from Western Ky. Kent spent time playing with multiple bands in Nashville for several years before meeting his wife and moving back to Kentucky. While serving in his local church, Kent met Sean Finley who started to play drums in youth praise band. Sean had been away from music for awhile before joining up with Kent to help lead youth worship. The two became good friends and decided to pursue music together, and have been trading tunes ever since. They are joined by Austin Brown on bass guitar. The name Roux comes from the base of gumbo. Kent’s father has a deep passion for Creole food. Kent was born the middle child of three and was the free spirit of the family. He was given the nick name Roux from birth. The Willing comes from a biblical reference that states God will equip and the willing. We write songs about life, love, and faith. Bob Marley once said that his music is like injecting love into a broken world. We feel the same way. If we can’t do something positive with our music, then what are we doing it for?
