Dancing With Our Stars

Local celebrities will take the stage once again at the Alhambra on Saturday, September 7, 2019 to compete in the third Dancing With Our Stars competition.  This year’s competition returns with a twist. In the 2019 Dancing With Our Stars competition, the event will feature double the local celebrities.  Dance experts from Brooke Bailey Dance Addiction + Gymnastics and Bluegrass Dancecats will serve as mentors and coach 8 celebrity pairs.

Tune in to the Dancing With Our Stars Facebook page beginning on June 17 to learn who will be dancing in the September 7 competition.  Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, July 16 and will be available through online ticketing at pennyroyalarts.org. Tickets are $40 each. Sponsorships to support the event and special viewing opportunities in the newly renovated Alhambra Theatre are available. Email [email protected] to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.

Proceeds from the event and the funds raised during the dancing festivities will support the missions of both the Pennyroyal Arts Council and Sanctuary, Inc.  The event is sponsored by Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Homes.  Money is raised leading up to the event as community members cast their “vote” for their favorite team.  Each dollar donated counts as a vote, with the overall competition winners named from a combination of dance score and dollars raised.  Online donations will once again be available with one team named a winner before the dancing begins with the “Online Fan Favorite” awarded at the conclusion of the evening.

“We are thrilled to bring the dancing fun back to the community again this year,” says Executive Director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council Margaret Prim.  “The Dancing With Our Stars event will be the first event held in the Alhambra Theatre in its 2019-2020 season (The LIVE at the Alhambra series will kick off October 3 with a Grammy-award winning artist – reveal of that artist coming August 1!), and we could not be more excited to offer this entertainment again for our community.”

Heather Lancaster, Executive Director of Sanctuary, Inc. says of the event, “To add this new twist this year and double up on the number of local celebrities you’ll see competing is really going to be fun. We look forward to this exciting change to the competition.”

The Dancing With Our Stars event raised over $65,000 in 2016, and in 2017 raised $57,000.  Organizers are hoping to meet that same level of success to support the missions of the two organizations benefitting from the event.  The Dancing With Our Stars event has previously been a sold out crowd, so organizers encourage ticket purchases to be made as soon as they go live July 16.
