Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K

Save the date for the Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K! This year’s race will be held on September 19, 2020 and will be a part of The West Kentucky 270 Trifecta Race Series!

Come experience the beauty and charm of west Kentucky scenery and hospitality in Hopkinsville, or Hoptown as we call it! The course winds through downtown Hoptown, residential areas, through beautiful Christian County countryside and returns to finish downtown on the popular and new Greenway/Rail Trail.

Hoptown FanFest

Mark your calendar for Hoptown FanFest – September 12th! A comic convention is coming back to the Library! Cosplay, comics, games, and more!
The Library will be hosting the comic convention from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event will include panel discussions, vendors, a game room, a costume contest, and food trucks.

Food and merchant vendors, live entertainment, rides and a variety of attractions make this event a true gem of the south. The festival runs Friday, August 28, 2020 – Saturday, August 29, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Accompanied by their children (Dana Barron, Anthony Michael Hall), Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), are driving from Illinois to a California amusement park. As Clark increasingly fixates on a beautiful woman driving a sports car, the Griswolds deal with car problems and the death of a family member. They reach Los Angeles, but, when Clark worries that the trip is being derailed again, he acts impulsively to get his family to the park.

This coming-of-age film follows the mayhem of group of rowdy teenagers in Austin, Texas, celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. The graduating class heads for a popular pool hall and joins an impromptu keg party, however star football player Randall “Pink” Floyd (Jason London) has promised to focus on the championship game and abstain from partying. Meanwhile, the incoming freshmen try to avoid being hazed by the seniors, most notably the sadistic bully Fred O’Bannion (Ben Affleck).

They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) that needs a brain, a Tin Man (Jack Haley) missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) to earn his help.

Live Music – Elia Burkhart – at Hopkinsville Brewing Company

Based in Cincinnati, OH, Elia Burkhart has been singing and writing songs for over 10 years. He has performed as a soloist and led his own groups, and has worked as a sideman (playing guitar, upright bass, and more) in several local and touring bands. Elia’s songs range from blues to country to rock n’ roll, and have been compared to the writing of Gram Parsons, Bright Eyes and the Beatles.

Live at the Historic Alhambra: The Stylistics

One of the most successful soul groups ever, The Stylistics had 12 straight Top Ten hits in the early ‘70s including: “You Are Everything”, “Betcha by Golly Wow”, “I’m Stone in Love with You”, “Break up to Make Up”, “Let’s Put it All Together”, and “You make me Feel Brand New.” Among their peers, they were one of the smoothest and sweetest soul groups of their era.

That famous Philly Soul sound is still groovin’ today as The Stylistics celebrate their 50th anniversary with original founding members Airrion Love and Herb Murell, with Jason Sharp and the newest Stylistic, “Bo” Henderson (former lead vocalist of The Temptations) whose amazing falsetto makes you feel as though you are listening to the hit songs exactly as you first heard them on vinyl.
