2019 Hoptown Hoppers Youth Baseball Camps

Here’s to more Baseball fun in Hoptown! The 2019 Hoptown Hoppers are hosting Youth Baseball Camps at Hopkinsville High School’s Tiger Field! Youth ages 6-12 can learn valuable baseball instruction from the Hoppers coaches and players, including throwing, pitching, offense, hitting drills, bunting, base running, fielding, and more!

*Saturday Day Camp*
Saturday, July 6th, 9:00 am-Noon .
Registration starts at 8:30 am, Cost is $30 per camper.
Free admission to game on July 6th at 7:05 pm.

*Midweek Camp*
Tuesday-Thursday, July 9th-11th, 9:00 am-Noon .
Registration starts at 8:30 am on July 9th, Cost is $65 per camper (additional family members are $55 each).
Admission to a Hoppers game of your choice.

(Note: Hop-A-Long Crew members can get $10 off either camp. Anyone can attend both camps for $90. Campers will receive a camp shirt while supplies last.)

3rd Annual REKFest Skateboard Competition

The 3rd Annual REKFest Skateboard Competition will be held Saturday, May 25th, at the Hopkinsville Skatepark.

REKFest III Skateboard Competition is an open event for any participants within the age guidelines. The competition director is Tyler Graddy. Categories: (Youth, Adults) skill level determined by one (1) hour free skate after Youth Division, determined by five (5) independent judges. Competition: Kids Division (8-15) 12:00 pm; Adult Division (16-up) 2:00 pm; Two (2) runs in each category on 45 second interval on bowl and street; freestyle is one trick. Prizes to be awarded to top three (TBD).

Kids to Parks Day

National Kids to Parks Day is a day of outdoor play that engages youth and families across the country to engage with their local parks and public lands, to promote healthy outdoor living and environmental stewardship. Join the park’s recreation staff for a family friendly hike, arts & crafts program, and a campfire program!

Meeting of EAA Chapter 1633 – Hopkinsville, Kentucky

Join EAA Chapter 1633 – Hopkinsville for their next meeting on May 2nd at 6 pm at the Christian County Airport. If you are interested in being involved with a group of people that have a love for aviation, please join them as they are just getting started with the local EAA chapter.

Their interest is not only airplanes but also drones, STEM activities for our youth, building airplanes, promoting our airport, Young Eagle events, safety seminars, the history of aviation and all things related to anything that flies. Most of all, the organization wants involvement, so you are invited to please join them and take part in the fun.

Youth Art Month Reception

Youth Art Month is an annual part of the smARTS program where we ask all area schools’ art teachers to submit a selection of their students’ best work. Arts education is important and we love to support our community’s budding artists and the great teachers who help them discover their passions and abilities.

Artwork in this exhibit will be displayed throughout the month of March. This year’s reception will take place on Thursday, March 7th at 5 PM where all of the participants will be honored.

CANCELLED: Free Airplane Rides at Young Eagles Flight Rally

Have you always wanted to learn about airplanes and how to fly? Join us for an event hosted by the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport Board and EAA. See and experience what real pilots do on the ground. Then take to the air with a certified pilot. All participants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must sign a waiver before you fly. This event is open to youth ages 7 to 17, with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. Flights will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m.
