Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K

The Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K is BACK! Once again sponsored, respectively, by Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health, the 2nd Annual Hoptown Half & 5K is a joint road race through Hopkinsville, Kentucky, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020.

The course starts in downtown Hoptown, shows off beautiful residential areas, winds through beautiful Christian County countryside and returns to finish downtown, via our popular Hopkinsville Greenway Rail Trail.

Half marathon and 5K runner packages include a beautiful medal and comfortable long sleeve moisture-wicking performance shirt. Come experience the beauty and charm of west Kentucky scenery and hospitality in Hopkinsville — or “Hoptown,” as we call it — this fall. Last year’s inaugural race drew 632 participants from 16 different states.

A portion of the race proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Challenge House, while honoring the memory of late Hopkinsville Mayor Wally Bryan. A one-mile “Wally’s Walkers” division will also be available for $25 per participant. View all registration options at HoptownHalf.com.

Race starting line is at 1001 S. Main Street in downtown Hopkinsville. A pre-race expo (including advance packet pick-up) will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville.

Hoptown Half & 5K Expo

Come pick up your race packet (including your official race bib), race shirt, and visit with a slew of running vendors, all on September 18, 2020, at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. The Expo will run from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, giving runners/walkers the chance to beat the crowd and enjoy some fellowship the night before the Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K. Taijutsu for Boxing – at Elements of Self Defense Family Martial Arts

In this warrior workshop at Elements of Self Defense, participants will be exploring how ninja taijutsu can be applied in the sport of boxing.

Teaching concepts will include:
-Wrapping Your Hands
-Fundamental Boxing Strikes
-Ninja Kamae for Boxing
-Ninja Footwork for Boxing
-Ninja Counters against Boxing Strikes

Boxing Expo

Join Hopkinsville Boxing Club for their Boxing Expo! The event will be held on January 30th at the building located beside 2nd Street Park (745 E. 2nd St.) in Hopkinsville.

Gloves Up, Guns Down Boxing Night – at Hopkinsville Sportsplex

Let’s get ready to rumble! The Hopkinsville Boxing Club and Coach Anthony Wimpye is bringing a 12-fight card to Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville on Saturday, October 19, 2019. With teams/clubs from Hopkinsville, Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Georgia (with boxers between 8 years old and professional) will be represented.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. and first bell is 5 p.m. Admission is $12. Kids under 8 years old, as well as military personnel and veterans (with ID), will be admitted free.

Special guest Alton Merkerson, the former coach of Hall of Fame boxer Roy Jones Jr. will be a special guest. The main event of the evening will feature military boxer “Desert Storm.” Sponsorship opportunities are available by calling 270-987-0102.

Western Kentucky Smackdown Volleyball Tournament – at Hopkinsville Sportsplex

The annual Western Kentucky Smackdown Volleyball Tournament is moving to the Sportsplex! One of the most anticipated events of the year in Western Kentucky, this postseason tuneup features intriguing matchups between some of the top KHSAA teams on this end of the state. In past years, WKY Smackdown is played in four different gyms. This year, it’s all under one roof! Admission is just $7/day or $10 for a weekend pass during the two-day tournament.

Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K – at Hoptown Harvest Festival

The course winds through downtown Hoptown, residential areas, through beautiful Christian County countryside and returns to finish downtown on the popular and new Greenway/Rail Trail.

Hoptown Half & 5K Pasta Dinner – at Hopkinsville Sportsplex

Looking for a fun way to carb-load the night before your race? Join us for the Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K Pasta Dinner! Get your grub on from 6:30-8:00 pm on Friday, September 27 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville.

Cost is $10 for registered runners (must show bib as proof), $5 for kids 8-and-under and $12 for everyone else.

The dinner includes pasta, bread, salad, and the choice of water or tea from Four Seasons Catering. We’ll also have a motivational speech from Marathon Runner Stella Christoforou! Seating is limited to the first 200 people, so don’t hesitate to purchase your spot. And remember, all proceeds to go to United Way of the Pennyrile!
