HES EnergyNet Reverse Christmas Parade

This year’s traditional Downtown Christmas Parade will have a different format in 2020. To carry out the event within local and statewide COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is putting on Hoptown’s first-ever Reverse Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 12. Hopkinsville Electric System (HES) & EnergyNet returns as the sponsor of the Parade. The grand marshals will (collectively) be the Christian County Health Department and Christian County Emergency Management.

2020 Movies in the Park : The Indian in the Cupboard

Thanks to sponsor United Southern Bank, WHOP Hopkinsville, KY 98.7 and 95.3 FM and 1230 AM and Lite Rock 98.7 WHOP FM, the Movies in the Park summer series is back and remains free in 2020! It’s another incredible lineup this year, including The Indian in the Cupboard on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Trail of Tears Commemorative Park & Heritage Center, located at 100 Trail of Tears Drive in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The movie will start at 6:45pm.

ALL movies in 2020 will be drive-in only, meaning families must remain in/on/next to their car during the movie. Loud speakers AND radio tuners will be available for audio. Restrooms will be able for use, but there is no congregating or group solicitation allowed. No food or drink vendors will be on site, so feel free to bring your own snacks each night.

2020 Movies in the Park : Trolls World Tour

Thanks to sponsors United Southern Bank, WHOP Hopkinsville, KY 98.7 and 95.3 FM and 1230 AM and Lite Rock 98.7 WHOP FM, the Movies in the Park summer series is back and remains free in 2020! It’s another incredible lineup this year, including Sonic the Hedgehog on Friday, August 14 at Ruff Park, located at 735 North Drive in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The movie will start at approximately 8:00 p.m.

ALL movies in 2020 will be drive-in, meaning families can remain in/on/next to their car during the movie. There will also be socially-distanced, marked spots in the grass for sitting. Loud speakers AND radio tuners will be available for audio. Restrooms will be able for use, but there is no congregating or group solicitation allowed. Beginning Monday, July 6, Hopkinsville Fire/EMS and Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation are partnering to bring the community Hoptown Hose Down — a five-park tour on weekday afternoons that will allow local residents a chance to be sprayed down with an HFD pumper truck! Red, White & Oooh! Fireworks Show

Sponsored by WKDZ/WHVO, Red, White & Oooh! — the area’s LARGEST fireworks display of the year — is back in 2020! Get plenty of bang for NO bucks (it’s a FREE community event) on Saturday, July 4 at Ruff Park. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15pm.

Due to regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s fireworks display is DRIVE-IN ONLY. Spectators must remain in their vehicles before and during the fireworks begin. There will no food vendors on site.

Just like 2019, parking will be available in the Hopkinsville Community College and Christian County High School lots, and in various locations around North Drive. There is NO parking at Ruff Park, due to the fireworks drop zone.

Movies in the Park – The Lion King

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation will present the full-length feature film “The Lion King” on the big screen with stereo sound! This movie will be held DRIVE-IN only, at Ruff Park, at 8:15 pm.

Drive-in only allows families to safely enjoy movies on the giant inflatable screen from the comfort of their vehicles. Admission is FREE!  Can’t wait to see you at the movies!
