Movies in the Park 2022: Disney’s Encanto

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Movies in the Park series, one of the community’s most-anticipated summer family activities, comes back with this year’s blockbusters! Join us Friday, April 15th at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex for Disney’s Encanto! The movie starts at 7:30 pm and it will be shown inside the facility. It will be Madrigal!
The Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library will be on-site helping families with young children register for Imagination Library and giving out free books!

Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase through the Game Day Cafe at the Sportsplex!

Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Reopens for Group Activities

For the first time since Nov. 9, 2020, the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville is resuming limited open gym offerings and group activities.
Strict COVID-19 guidelines, including a mask or face covering requirement for all guests — before, during and after facility participation — will remain in place when the courts and turf field reopen for use Monday, Feb. 1.
Temperature checks and visitor sign-ins will also continue to be required upon entry at the front desk. Here is the complete list of rules and regulations and how they’ll apply to various groups:
General Walking
• Masks must be worn at all times by walkers.
Open Gym
• Limited to 10 persons per court
• No spectators
• Masks must be worn by all participants, at all times
Rentals/Team Practices
• Limited to 50 spectators per full court or turf space (25 on the half-courts)
• Masks must be worn by anyone who is not actively exercising in the competitive element of the scheduled practice
• Anyone waiting to join in an active scrimmage etc. must be masked
• Anyone in a general area (red zone portion of the floor) must be in a mask
• Only participants in the practice will be allowed in the gym; no spectators
League Games
• Limited to 50 people per full court or turf space (25 on the half-courts)
• Anyone in a general area (red zone portion of the floor) must be in a mask
• Spectators limited to 2 people per participant, up to the limits allowed by court/field restrictions
• All spectators and non-competitors in the contest, at that moment, must wear masks.
• Only the actively-participating athletes and assigned contest officials (referees) in the game, on the court/field at
that specific moment, are exempt from wearing a mask/face covering at all times
• Coaches and other club officials must be masked at all times
Party room rentals
• Party room is limited to 25 people
• Masks must be worn at all times when not eating or drinking
Additionally, in all cases:
• Temperatures will be checked at the door upon any entry
• Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to enter
• A thorough checklist of verification of non-exposure must be completed
• Signatures will be obtained of all entrants
• Surfaces will be sanitized following activities
• Entrance and exit doors will be identified, and their use will be enforced
• Water fountains will remain off
• Bleacher seating will not be allowed
• Multiple hand sanitizer stations will be readily available
Open gym capacity will be enforced on a first-come, first-serve basis. Daily availability, which will occur during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Mondays-Saturdays) and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, can be found by clicking “Today’s Schedule” on the front page of
No outside tournaments will be allowed at this time. As COVID numbers improve, circumstances change and protocols are relaxed, this restriction may be re-evaluated. The Sportsplex, which celebrated its two-year anniversary Jan. 9, will also continue to offer free walking from 8 a.m. to noon on weekdays. No registration is required.
Additionally, the Sportsplex will be extending the expiration date of all Annual Passes (purchased before Nov. 9, 2020) by three months, making up for the time when the facility was closed for open gym. No further action is needed in order to gain the Pass extension. Day Passes ($5) and Annual Passes ($40) can be purchased on site.
“We are beyond appreciative for the patience and understanding of our guests and supporters during the past few months,” said Sportsplex Facility Coordinator Tony Henson. “The health and safety of our visitors is paramount, which is why we will take and have taken appropriate measures to responsibly resume more activities.”
Batting and golf cages at the Plex will return to appointment-only, as space allows. Designated Cage Nights will also return to the facility and will be announced at a later date.
The Sportsplex will continue to follow Kentucky’s Healthy at Work and Healthy at Sports guidelines, including utilization of social distancing when possible. As the pandemic continues to unfold, the fluidity of conditions could lead to abrupt changes and updates at the discretion of Sportsplex management. Please refer to for current regulations.

Pennyrile Volleyball Camp

It’s time to once again bump, set and spike at the Sportsplex! Led by coaches and alums from UHA Volleyball, the two-day Pennyrile Volleyball Camp will offer safe and socially-distant instruction, skills and training for 8th-12th graders around the Pennyrile Region.

PVC is set for 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. The camp is just $60, which includes a designated volleyball that will be issued to each participant to be used during camp. All CDC and Christian County Health Department regulations will be followed. Sign up now at
