Military Affairs Salute Saturday Chili Cook-off and Grilled Cheese Challenge – at Hoptown Harvest Festival

The Military Affairs Salute Saturday Chili Cook-off and Grilled Cheese Challenge is one of our community’s best-loved traditions! The annual event features both civilian and military teams competing for prizes up to $1,000.

Chili tasting is free for all military ID card holders; $2 for civilians.

All money raised goes to support our military community members!

This year, Military Affairs is partnering with the Hoptown Harvest Festival‘s Bourbon Mashoree to bring you craft distilleries, breweries, and wineries from across the region to compete for bragging rights. Additionally, there will be live music and a large kids zone. The Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5k is also taking place that day and ends in Founders Square just in time for the Chili Cook-off festivities.

Event Schedule for Saturday September 28th:
7:00 am: Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K
11:00 am: Farmers Market and Vintage Craft Fair
Noon-until chili runs out: Public Chili tasting
Noon-7:00 pm: Bourbon Mashoree, Kids Zone and Live Music

Team Schedule:
*6:00-8:00 am: Chili/Grilled Cheese Teams arrive for setup
*8:00 am: Chili cooking begins
*10:00 am: Grilled cheese turned into judges
*Noon: Chili turned into judges and public tasting begins
Approx. 2:00 pm: Winners announced

Explore spirits and brews from regional craft distilleries, breweries & wineries as they compete for bragging rights at this year’s Kentucky Bourbon Mashoree! Experience live music, including Cayce and the Moonlight Band, 101st Airborne Division Band & The Todd County Boys! Play throughout awesome kids zone activities!

Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K – at Hoptown Harvest Festival

The Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, presented by Planters Bank (Half Marathon) and Jennie Stuart Health (5K), is a joint road race through Hopkinsville, KY.

The course winds through downtown Hoptown, residential areas, through beautiful Christian County countryside and returns to finish downtown on the popular and new Greenway/Rail Trail.

Couple this great race layout with Saturday’s Hoptown Harvest Fest and Bourbon celebrations (also held downtown) and you’ll have a fabulous race experience! Proceeds from the race and associated events (Friday Expo) benefit the non-profit partners of the United Way of the Pennyrile.

Half-marathon runner package includes a beautiful medal and comfortable long sleeve moisture-wicking performance shirt. Come experience the beauty and charm of west Kentucky scenery and hospitality in Hopkinsville, or Hoptown as we call it — at the Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, presented by Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health.

Race starting line is at 1001 S. Main Street in downtown Hopkinsville. Race-day registration and packet pickup is at the nearby Christian County Justice Center, 100 Justice Way, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

 

                       

Hoptown Half & 5K Pasta Dinner – at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School

Looking for a fun way to carb-load the night before your race? Join us for the Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K Pasta Dinner! Get your grub on from 6:30-8pm on Friday, Sept. 27 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville.

Cost is $10 for registered runners (must show bib as proof), $5 for kids 8-and-under and $12 for everyone else.

The dinner includes pasta, bread, salad and the choice of water or tea from Four seasons catering. We’ll also have a motivational speech from Marathon Runner Stella Christoforou! Seating is limited to the first 200 people, so don’t hesitate to purchase your spot. And remember, all proceeds to go to United Way of the Pennyrile!

Farm to Table Dinner – at Hoptown Harvest Festival

This year’s Farm to Table Dinner is a can’t-miss community fave! Tickets are on sale now for this delicious dinner, so you’d better act fast to grab your seat! Click here to purchase your ticket!

Dinner is served near dusk on Friday, September 27th under the Downtown Farmers Market pavilion. The gourmet meal’s main courses will be prepared by Southern Belle Catering, and dessert will be brought to you by The Mixer . . . featuring locally-sourced ingredients! Local spirits, craft beer and wine provided by MB Roland Distillery, Casey Jones Distillery, Hopkinsville Brewing Company and Carriage House Vineyard.

Tickets are $50 per person. Reserved seating is required for this event.

Hoptown Half & 5K Expo

Come pick up your race packet (including your official race bib), race shirt, visit with a slew of running vendors and stick around for the carb-load pasta dinner, all on September 27, 2019 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. The Expo will run from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, giving runners/walkers the chance to beat the crowd and enjoy some fellowship the night before the Inaugural Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K. CMT’s Next Women of Country: Stephanie Quayle – at Hoptown Harvest Festival

The Hoptown Harvest Festival kicks off with an incredible night of country music! The Pennyroyal Arts Council is bringing rising star Stephanie Quayle to the historic Alhambra Theatre on Thursday, September 26th at 7:00 pm!

This special event is presented by McGee Pest Control, with 101 tickets provided free for military. General admission tickets are $20 per person and they’ll go fast, so you’d better be quick!

As a newly inducted member of CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2019, Stephanie Quayle is celebrating a breakthrough year in country music. Named one of Rolling Stone Country’s “Top Artists You Need To Know,” Quayle is known for her high-energy live performances across the country, while sharing stages with artists like Brett Eldredge, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, and more.

Begin the Festival Thursday evening with the Museum’s Supper in the Cemetery inside the Riverside Chapel while meeting the dearly departed who were major contributors to the agriculture industry. Boxed suppers are $20 for the general public & $15 for Museum Members. Dinner will be served at 5.

Then enjoy the 3rd annual “Founder’s Square Feast: A Farm to Table Dinner” on Friday under the stars at the Downtown Farmers Market. The dinner will feature a locally sourced 3-course meal served alongside local spirits with ambient music. Social hour is at 6 & dinner will be served at 7. Tickets are $53 each. Top off the weekend with the 2nd annual Kentucky Bourbon Mashoree on Saturday while enjoying the sips & sounds of our area vintners, brewers, distillers & performers. The Downtown Farmers Market hours will be 10 am – 4 pm with in-season produce available as well as an expansion of our vintage craft vendors. Music starts at 11 & runs til 9. Beverages will be served from noon until 8. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day – enjoy a hay maze at the Library, face painting, kids zone & tons of other family-friendly activities. Admission is free.
