History on Tap: Slavery Survivors

February 29 @ 6:30 pm CST

Christian County has a rich, dark history of slavery from its earliest days. In the Kentucky New Era in 1934, local journalist Charles Meacham published short biographies of 25 local African Americans who had lived as enslaved people in this area. These biographies provide a glimpse into a part of our past that is not well documented and give us a chance to better understand the depth and breadth of our community’s history.

Current and former members of the Museum’s and Hopkinsville History Foundation’s Board of Directors will share the stories of these people who lived through so much.

History on Tap is a free series that seeks to share local history in a relaxed, fun setting. Programs are typically held on the last Thursday of the month at 6:30pm at Hopkinsville Brewing Company.
