2020 Movies in the Park : Sonic the Hedgehog

**NEW DATE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 29TH**

Thanks to sponsors United Southern Bank, WHOP Hopkinsville, KY 98.7 and 95.3 FM and 1230 AM and Lite Rock 98.7 WHOP FM, the Movies in the Park summer series is back and remains free in 2020! It’s another incredible lineup this year, including Sonic the Hedgehog on Friday, August 28 at Ruff Park, located at 735 North Drive in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The movie will start at approximately 8:00 p.m.

ALL movies in 2020 will be drive-in, meaning families can remain in/on/next to their car during the movie. There will also be socially-distanced, marked spots in the grass for sitting. Loud speakers AND radio tuners will be available for audio. Restrooms will be able for use, but there is no congregating or group solicitation allowed.

Hoptown Hose Down

Need a COVID cool down?? Beginning Monday, July 6, Hopkinsville Fire/EMS and Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation are partnering to bring the community Hoptown Hose Down — a five-park tour on weekday afternoons that will allow local residents a chance to be sprayed down with an HFD pumper truck! Free Beginners Youth Tennis Camp

Do you know a beginner youth tennis player who wants to learn the game at a fun, manageable level? Sign them up for a FREE Beginners Youth Tennis Camp at Thomas Street Recreation Center!

Scheduled for 11:30am-12:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from Aug. 3-14, this USTA-funded opportunity will be taught by the Pennyrile Area Tennis Association (PATA) and is only open to the first TWELVE (12) participants to register. Take advantage of this smaller racquet, smaller ball and smaller court, as the youth participants learn the game of tennis the right way. Call 270-887-4290 to sign up.

Pennyrile Volleyball Camp

It’s time to once again bump, set and spike at the Sportsplex! Led by coaches and alums from UHA Volleyball, the two-day Pennyrile Volleyball Camp will offer safe and socially-distant instruction, skills and training for 8th-12th graders around the Pennyrile Region.

PVC is set for 5:30-7:30pm on Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. The camp is just $60, which includes a designated volleyball that will be issued to each participant to be used during camp. Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center’s Annual Doggie Dip

Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center has the paw-fect event for your furry friends! You and your pal(s) are invited to the annual “Doggie Dip” on Saturday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. Little Dogs (under 25 lbs) take the water from 10:00 am-noon, and Big Dogs (25 lbs+) swim from noon-2:00 pm.

Bring your favorite pooch–it’s their time to splash around at Tie Breaker!  (The park is closed for the season for people, so it’s Doggie Dip time.)  Admission is $5.00 to let your favorite canine have an afternoon of waterpark fun.  No owners in the pool, just the dogs!

Here are some rules and other information on the event:
• Waiver must be completed at the gate prior to admission.
• Dogs only allowed in the pool.
• Humans may enter up to ankle depth, only for emergency.
• Slides are closed for the day.
• Rubber inner tubes not allowed in the pool.
• Canine life jackets provided by owners only at own risk.
• No inflatable rafts or toys allowed.
• Aggressive dogs not controlled by owners will be asked to leave.
• Dogs to be on leash entering and exiting water park.
• Please pick up after your dog – Mutt Mitts provided upon request.

The Christian County Cattlemen’s Association Lonestar Championship Rodeo

Voted a Top 10 Event in Kentucky by the Kentucky Travel Industry Association, the Cattlemen’s Rodeo is great fun for everyone! Contest Events include: Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Cowgirl’s Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Cowgirl’s Barrel Racing, and Brahma Bull Riding. Trail of Tears Park

This historic park is one of the few documented sites of actual trail and campsites used during the forced removal of the Cherokee people to “Indian Territory”. It’s a great spot to learn about local history in the Heritage Center museum and explore the beautiful grounds. Copper Canyon Ranch
